Capybara
The capybara, despite its rather rotund and unassuming appearance, possesses several remarkable physical attributes. Weighing between 35 to 66 kilograms, it is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the rodent world, a title held for approximately 10 million years. Its webbed feet provide exceptional aquatic mobility, allowing it to remain submerged for up to five minutes whilst evading predators. The capybara's teeth grow continuously throughout its life, reaching impressive lengths if not worn down by its fibrous diet. However, when compared to the raw athletic capability of larger mammals, the capybara's physical prowess remains, one might say, modestly unspectacular.
Gorilla
The silverback gorilla represents an absolute masterclass in mammalian strength. With males weighing up to 230 kilograms of predominantly muscle mass, a gorilla can generate approximately 1,800 pounds of force in a single bite and possess an arm strength estimated at ten times that of an adult human. Their imposing canine teeth can reach 5 centimetres in length, whilst their barrel chest and muscular arms enable feats of strength that border on the mythological. When a silverback performs its characteristic chest-beating display, the reverberations can be heard nearly a kilometre away, a biological loudspeaker announcing dominance to all within earshot.
