iPhone
The iPhone demonstrates remarkable adaptability through its software update architecture. The same physical device can transform its capabilities entirely through over-the-air modifications. Features unavailable at purchase emerge months later: new photography modes, health monitoring capabilities, and entirely new applications serving purposes not yet imagined at manufacture.
The device's accessory ecosystem further extends its adaptability. Cases transform it into a wallet. Attachments convert it into a microscope, a thermal camera, or a medical diagnostic tool. The iPhone has successfully adapted to serve as payment terminal, vehicle key, hotel room access card, and countless other functions far beyond its original communication purpose.
Hurricane
The hurricane's adaptability manifests through its capacity to draw energy from any sufficiently warm ocean surface. Unlike fixed infrastructure, the hurricane relocates continuously, following favourable atmospheric conditions. When confronted with wind shear or cooler waters, it may temporarily weaken only to reintensify upon encountering suitable conditions.
Certain hurricanes have demonstrated remarkable persistence. Hurricane John of 1994 survived for 31 days, traversing the Pacific Ocean and crossing the International Date Line. The phenomenon adapts to terrain as well, reorganising after landfall to exploit moisture from wetlands, sometimes regenerating over warm Gulf waters to strike again.
