Pigeon
The pigeon has demonstrated remarkable urban resilience. These birds consume anything from discarded chips to decorative seeds, metabolising human civilisation's detritus with admirable efficiency. They nest in architectural crevices that would challenge even the most determined estate agent to market positively.
However, pigeons remain vulnerable to environmental pressures: predatory hawks in city centres, automobile collisions, and the inexplicable hostility of humans armed with breadcrumbs one moment and brooms the next.
Minecraft
Minecraft survival mechanics have been refined over fourteen years of development, offering players an ecosystem of increasingly sophisticated threats. From the humble zombie to the dimension-hopping Enderman, survival requires mastery of crafting, combat, and the ancient art of digging straight down (inadvisable).
The game's survival adaptability extends to biome-specific challenges: deserts demand water management, oceans require aquatic respiration, and the Nether introduces an entirely new category of ways to perish spectacularly. Hardcore mode offers permanent death—a feature pigeons have, unfortunately, always operated under.
VERDICT
Whilst the pigeon's real-world survival skills command respect, Minecraft offers infinite respawning (outside hardcore mode) and the ability to modify difficulty settings. The capacity to effectively toggle mortality represents an evolutionary advantage the pigeon simply cannot match.
